New Year, New Books Readathon TBR & SIGN UP

Hello, all. As you may or may not know, I am hosting a readathon at the end of this month called the New Year, New Books Readathon. If you want more information, check out my announcement post. The readathon will be taking place from January 24-31.

I don't know how much reading I will be able to get done between hosting the readathon and doing all my last-minute study abroad preparations. But, with an optimistic perspective, here is what I hope to read:

1) Read a book by an author you've never read before.

Everyone and their chinchilla has read and raved about this book. I think it's about time I pick it up.

2) Read a genre you don't typically read (this could also mean age group. Like, if you usually read YA you could read an adult or MG book).

Well, it's gonna be really awkward if this isn't true, but I've heard that this is more of an adult fantasy than young adult. I don't read much adult fantasy (or adult books in general), though that is definitely an area I'd like to explore more.

3) Read a book in a medium you don't usually read (ebook, audiobook, graphic novel, etc.)

I'm kinda cheating on my own challenge here. I chose this book because it is a physical ARC, which, considering I get very few of these, I rarely read. I was really looking forward to this novel when it was released and never got around to reading it, but now that I have an egalley of its companion/sequel, I need to get to reading.

4) Read a diverse book (you might already do this, so if you do, maybe try reading an area of diverse books you don't usually read--if you usually read racially diverse books, try reading a diverse book about mental health, if that makes sense????)

This book, to my understanding, has a queer protagonist and a character with bipolar disorder. While I've read queer books before, I do not think I've ever read a novel that deals with bipolar disorder. Also, I've heard this book is phenomenal.

5) Read a book someone in the community recommended, but you know nothing about.

I really didn't wanna double up on any of my challenges, but this book is probably the thickest of all the books on my TBR, so it's fine, right??? Anyway, the only thing I know about this book is that it deals with a heist and has squad goals and that everybody in the book community loves it.
Well, there you have my TBR for the readathon, friends. Hopefully I make a decent dent in it. Below you'll find a linky, where you can link to your TBR, be it a video, an instagram post, or even just a tweet.

A few important notes:

You MUST have signed up through this linky in order to enter any of the giveaways throughout the readathon.

If you sign up before 12:01 AM central time on the 24th (when the readathon starts), you will get a bonus entry for each giveaway you enter.

Please be sure to visit/comment on other participants' TBRs as well!

Top Ten Books On My TBR From Before I Started Blogging

Okay, so I'm gonna cheat on this topic. I've been blogging off and on for like 5 years, and I had a blog before this one. But I decided to include titles on my TBR that I haven't read from before I started being more active on this blog (so, like, December of 2015). While compiling this list, I just kept thinking, "Wow, how haven't I read this book yet?"There are some major throwback books on this list!

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kandare Blake - People were raving about this when it first came out, and I love all things spooky so I knew I needed to read it. I bought it, but I still haven't read it. Maybe this October will be my time???

Uprooted by Naomi Novik - I've had this on my Goodreads shelf since November 2015, and I just know that everyone is in love with it. ONE DAY, MY FRIENDS. ONE DAY.

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - Listen, I read an ARC of Cinder and really enjoyed it. I was so excited for the rest of the series, but I ended up losing track of the series and never got around to reading them, but I WANT TO SO BADLY. I need to buy the entire series and binge read them all.

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins - I was all over this the second Rachel Hawkins announced this book, having adored her Hex Hall series. Well, now the entire trilogy is released and I still have not read book 1.

Everneath by Brodi Ashton - To be honest, I feel like this novel is kind of irrelevant now. It was really popular when it first came out, but nobody talks about it anymore. GUESS WHAT, THOUGH. I bought the first book a while back and I just recently bought the other 2 books and will I ever read it? The world may never know.

Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers - I OWN THIS ENTIRE TRILOGY...SIGNED. I don't even know how this happened, but it did. I like won the first 2 books signed from different giveaways, and then I figured I might as well buy a signed copy of the last book. I even started reading this book, but I never finished it for some reason.

My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent - I've heard really great things about this series. Some bloggers were saying it was their favorite book series ever. So I added it to my TBR and when I saw the series was being released in volumes, I bought the first 3 (which is the first 6 books) and I still haven't opened them up.

Legend by Marie Lu - I swear, I contemplate reading this book every day of my life. I read part of it a couple years back and loved it, but I think I'm secretly waiting until I acquire the entire trilogy so I can binge-read, but I don't feel like buying the other books. It doesn't really make sense but my brain is a complicated place.

Take Me On by Katie McGarry - I LOVE KATIE MCGARRY SO MUCH THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR THIS.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - I have no idea what this book is about but I know tons of people are obsessed with it, and even now people talk about it on BookTube all. the. time.

Top Ten Books I've Recently Added to My TBR

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson - I just recently read and completely fell head over heels in love with Matson's Since You've Been Gone and I have vowed to read everything she has ever and will ever write.

Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto - I just heard of this one today and instantly added it to my TBR because it sounds really freaking awesome. A western fantasy novel? Heck to the freaking yes.

Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry - I'm not sure why the hell it took me so long to figure this out, but I just recently discovered that Echo and Noah have a second book and I could not deal with my excitement. OTP OTP OTP

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler - I've heard tons of wonderful things about this book. and I know from personal experience how amazing Sarah Ockler is, so when I heard about her new novel, I immediately added it to my TBR. Bonus: The word "Mermaid" is in the title so of course I have to read it.

Sweet Unrest by Lisa Maxwell - After being blown away by Lisa Maxwell's Unhooked (coming in February) I immediately checked to see if she had written anything else and SHE HAD! I can't wait to read more by this author!

Level Up by Cathy Yardley - I'd never heard of this book before I read a review of it a few days ago, and I heard there were mentions of SuperWhoLock so of course I was sooooo in. I'm ready to geek out with this one.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik - There were lots of fantastic, raving reviews of this one. Plus dragons.

Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry - IF YOU CAN'T TELL I'M OBSESSED WITH KATIE and I can't believe I hadn't heard about her new series until a couple months ago.

Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn - I have seen a ton of great reviews for this, and when I read the summary, I knew I needed to read it.

Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell - I loooove fairy tale retellings. And this one sounds like a good one. Also, look at that cover!!!!
