When I first read the topic for this week, I thought it was going to be a challenge. I didn't think I'd read that many books that take place in other countries, but I was delightfully surprised to find out that's not entirely true. I was also surprised to find out how many books I've read that take place in England! That said, I limited the amount of England-setting books I could include on this list, but believe me, there are several other lovely novels I could have chosen. I also did not include fantasy settings that aren't real places, because that's cheating.
What's crazy to me is that I have actually been to a couple of these countries, and that in a few days, I'll be headed to even more of them!!!
1) Prince in Disguise by Stephanie Kate Strohm | Scotland | This novel is so fluffy and adorable and completely underrated. We get to meet (fictional) Scottish royalty and explore hidden passages in Scottish castles and learn about traditional Scottish celebrations. If you're looking for a quick, delightful little romance to read, this is the book for you.
2) Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch | Ireland | Maybe this is cheating because at the time of writing this post, I'm about halfway through this novel, but I don't care. Ireland is the very first country outside of the U.S. that I had the pleasure of visiting. The first scene in this novel takes place at the Cliffs of Moher, which was my favorite place in Ireland. Already this novel makes me want to go back to the Emerald Isle.
3) Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley | Australia | This book isn't about tourists visiting Australia, so the setting doesn't play a HUGE role, but this is one of my all-time favorite contemporary novels and, again, completely underrated.
4) My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows | England | I don't even know that I need to explain this novel, because we all know that this book was an absolute blast to read. It rewrites a little bit of English history, and has fun doing it.
5) Daytripper by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon | Brazil | This graphic novel actually visits and beautifully illustrates several countries, but it takes place primarily in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This graphic novel is stunning and thought-provoking and completely worth reading whether you enjoy graphic novels or not.
6) Blood Promise by Richelle Mead | Russia | I couldn't not include a book from my favorite series of all-time. It was so refreshing to get away from St. Vlad's in this installment and roam Russia.
7) Me Before You by Jojo Moyes | England | First and foremost, I understand that this novel is considered problematic by some, but I adore it. The setting kind of plays a big role in this novel and at the same time doesn't, but we also get to visit Mauritius for a little while, which is a beautiful country in East Africa.
8) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins | France | I think this one was a given. This novel is so cute and allows us to explore the romantic city of Paris (which I will be going to next week!!!!!!!!!!!).
9) And I Darken by Kiersten White | Turkey | This novel takes place in the time of the Ottoman Empire, and it is so dark and lush and a truly fascinating read.
10) Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch | Italy | Italy had always been my #1 desired traveling destination, and this novel completely charmed me when I read it, and made me desperately want to try gelato in Italy. Now I have tried gelato in Italy, and I can confidently say it lived up to the hype. I''ll actually be on my way to Florence when you all are reading this, which is crazy! My friends and I are planning to do a gelato crawl, which is like a pub crawl but better.

Life's A Beach Book Tag (Original)
Hi everyone! I purchased my plane tickets to Florida tonight.I'm going the last 3 weeks of July and I am beyond excited. Sarasota, where I grew up and where I'll be going, is home to the #1 beach in the country, in case anyone was wondering, and as a means of celebration I created a book tag commemorating the beach experience.
1) THE SAND
A BOOK THAT STUCK WITH YOU LONG AFTER YOU FINISHED READING
Okay, well this one is a bit more of a recent read, but I already know that this book has had a lasting impact on me. The story, the characters, and the themes explored all refuse to leave me.
2) THE SUN
A BOOK THAT BURNED YOU
When I originally thought of this question, I was intending it to apply to books I thought would be great but disappointed me, but when I really began thinking about the books that burned me, I realized it's deeper than that. This is for the book that ripped my heart out. That tainted me with a happy ending and then jerked it out of my hands. Yeah, that's Heartless.
3) THE WAVES
A BOOK THAT CALMS YOU DOWN AFTER A LONG DAY
Yeah, My Lady Jane is a fun one. It was sweet and exciting and engrossing. This could take my mind off of anything.
4) THE BATHING SUIT
A BOOK WITH A PRETTY, SUMMER-Y COVER
I've not read this one, but I want to. Badly. This cover reeks of summer vibes and also I'm obsessed with pretty lights, so there's that.
5) THE BIRDS
A BOOK THAT IS EVERYWHERE
When Dimple Met Rishi is another one I haven't read but desperately want to! I feel like I've seen this one all over the book community and I just really need to get my hands on it.
6) THE FUN MEMORIES
A BOOK YOU CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN TO
I absolutely adore this series, and I can't wait to re-read it and crack open the final installment in the trilogy. I just know that reading this series again will make my heart so happy!!
That's it! Short & sweet--but really makes me miss the beach!
I don't really have anyone specific to tag, but I encourage you all to participate and then link down below!!

Top Ten Book Boyfriends of 2016
I love me some swoon-worthy fictional boys. Here are my favorites that I met in 2016.
Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - He is probably my #1 book boyfriend of the year. He is so sweet and nerdy and I'M IN COLLEGE AND HAVEN'T MET ANYONE LIKE HIM THIS IS UNFAIR.
Eros from Beyond the Red by Ava Jae - He is loyalty and bravery and stubborness and flaws and I can't wait for the sequel when I get to see more of himmmmmm.
Jack from Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven - He is misguided, but overall caring and sweet. It was adorable to read his thoughts about Libby and the dates he took her on. Jealous, honestly.
G from My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows - OH LORD I LOVE G. He is so freaking funny and clever and when he gets really worried about Jane it is the most precious thing my heart has ever felt.
Frank from Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson - He's such a sweet lil cinnamon roll. He cares about the environment and being a good guy and I never thought I'd find anyone named Frank appealing, that's for sure.
Will Traynor from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - I CAN'T TALK ABOUT HIM. Except I adore him. As problematic as his story may be, I found Will himself to be utterly charming and, even in his sassiest moment, an absolute delight.
Henry Tilney from Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen - I liked him more than the beloved Mr. Darcy, I think. So do with that information what you will.
Clark from The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson - He's a WRITER!!!! And a precious little bean who never had friends growing up and it's impossible, if you ask me, not to fall in love with him over the course of the novel.
Captain from Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell - Naughty? Nice? Who knows. All I can say is that he is a HANDSOME PIRATE WHO HAS STOLEN MY HEART.
Dimitri Belikov from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - Okay, okay, I know this is cheating because this is, like, my trillionth time reading this book, BUT in the 10th anniversary edition we got new stories with him in them, so I'd say it counts. I can't leave out my all-time bae, okay?

Sunday Post #25
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! I hope everyone had the very best holiday!! I can't believe Christmas is over and, OH YEAH, it's officially 2017. Like, that's insane to me. I'm not particularly sad to see the year go, but I feel like it went by so quickly. I've been at my sister's house in Florida since Christmas Eve. I'm leaving tomorrow and I just don't wanna go. But at least when I get home I'll have more time to read and blog and what have you.

Top Ten Books I Read In 2016
I'm pretty sure I read a lot more books this year than I did last year, and some of them were real winners! It was hard for me to decide on my ten favorites, but these really take the cake! Though, the year is not over yet, so hopefully I still have a few winners left to read. These are in no particular order.
Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples - I read the first two volumes of this graphic novel series, and it is so interesting, and so fun!
Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson - This was my first Matson book and she quickly became one of my favorite authors! The story was fun and the friendship aspect was incredible. Also, I related to the protagonist, like, A SHIT TON. My review.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - This book got me really interested in fantasy! I loved the premise and I found this book to be incredibly addicting! My review.
My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows - This is my most recent read, and it is utterly delightful!!!! Cute and magical and SO MUCH FUN.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness - I read this in anticipation for the movie, and it was AMAZING. It was poignant and beautiful and memorable. I think everyone should read this! My review.
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson - This is another winner by Matson! Dogs and a hot writer boy and a nice lil father-daughter relationship. This is officially my second favorite Matson novel. My review.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - This is no doubt in my top three of the year. I loved the movie and I loved the book and I cried the ugliest cry anyone ever done did cry. This story and these characters hold a very special place in my heart. My review.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - This is the first audiobook I ever listened to, as I lounged by the pool in summer. So I was bound to love it no matter what. That notwithstanding, though, this book was absolutely lovely. I don't know that I've ever related more to a character than I related with Cath. Now where's my Levi????
Beyond the Red by Ava Jae - This book was such a pleasant surprise! I did not expect to love it as much as I did. It was action-packed and steamy and I NEED MORE PEOPLE TO READ THIS BOOK. My review.
And I Darken by Kiersten White - I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK omg omg omg omg omg omg!!!! My review

Summary from Goodreads:
The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.
At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane is about to become the Queen of England.
I was so afraid I'd hyped this book up to much for myself. This book was everywhere and people gushed about how funny it is and how much they loved it SO OF COURSE I WANTED TO READ IT. So i bought it. And I was almost too scared to read it because what if I didn't like it as much as I expected to? Well, I can assure you, friends, that was not the case. I absolutely adored this book! And the claims that everyone else was making were entirely correct: this book is funny, adorable, and downright magical.
Thanks to the show Reign, I have become incredibly interested in this time period and all the royal shenanigans happening with the Eglish, French, and Scots. What I found really admirable about this story is that while the authors blatantly admit that they are re-writing history (and in the dedication they even apologize to England), it's still so easy to see that these writers know their historical shit. From describing the social etiquette to the little asides in which they explain certain things about the time period.
Speaking of the asides, the narration of this book is 100% charming. In an almost Lemony Snicket kind of fashion, the narrators make their presence very known. I loved it. And the writing is just wonderful. It has so much voice and personality and it was utterly engrossing.
Now for the characters: Jane is such a fascinating character. She loves books--like REALLY loves books, so you just know this is girl I can get behind. She is also stubborn and feisty and independent and kind. She was by far my favorite of the three protagonists. I could read about her forever, to be honest. Then we have Gifford (call him G), who is horse by day and man by night. I loved him almost as much as Jane, but not quite. While his family doesn't want anyone to know about his equestrian habits, he's also got a top-secret night time hobby--one so bad, he prefers people think he's dallying with a new woman every night so they don't figure out the truth. I just really fell in love with him, and I think he was a perfect match for Jane. Their relationship was so cute I one billion percent wanted more. And their banter with one another had me laughing out loud! Edward was my least favorite of the three narrators, but I still liked him well enough. I just wasn't as emotionally invested in his story as I was Jane and G.
If you can't tell--I found this book to be incredible! I devoured it (not literally, because eating books is against Jane's rules). If you're tardy to the party like me and have yet to read this one, you should GET ON IT. It's addicting and humorous and exciting. And if you're worried about the historical aspect of it--fret no longer. You don't need to like or know anything about history to enjoy this book. This is one of my favorite books I've read this year.

Bringing YA Guys Home For The Holidays
Christmas is on the horizon, my friends. Which means top-notch family time is also on the horizon, which is excellent. I love my family more than anything. But I don't know about some of y'all, but family time often consists of everyone asking if I have a boyfriend and trying to console me as if I'm desperate for a boyfriend or something.
But what if I DID come home with a guy? Specifically, what if I came home with some of the studs from YA (let's ignore age differences that might be present)? Here's how I think that would go:
Adrian Ivashkov from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series
Okay, here's what I imagine: Adrian would be on his best behavior. He'd have a few mimosas and probably become quick friends with my 25-year-old brother. They'd probably go out for a cigarette together. While they're outside, my brother would undoubtedly tell embarrassing stories about me from when we were growing up. Adrian would smirk like hell and plot the different ways he could use those stories against me. Then my brother would tell Adrian how important I am to him, lowkey threatening him.
Meanwhile inside the house, my oldest brother and my dad would be discussing where they could get a shotgun on Christmas and my sister would scold them because Adrian is very handsome and seems very nice. I'd be sitting in silence aside from several heavy sighs.
Adrian and my brother would come back inside and my sister would make sure Adrian (and everybody else) didn't need anything, and she would find some sort of common ground to talk about with him, being genuinely interested and asking questions. Somewhere along the way, my oldest brother would find out that Adrian is into art, and they would bond over that.
When it comes to opening gifts, my family would have gifts for him, the majority of which would somehow relate to alcohol. And Adrian would have gifts for everyone in my family, and they'd all be very expensive and somehow also perfectly suited for each recipient.
At the end of the night, Adrian would go stay in a hotel and my family would all tell me how much they like him. My dad would tell me to hang onto him because he has money and my sister would scold him and say that's not what matters and then my dad would laugh because she has a very wealthy boyfriend herself.
G from My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows
First and foremost, G would be awed that everyone is wearing trousers, including the females. My family would be impressed because he brought all my luggage in, including my books. While he was putting my bags in the guest room, my oldest brother and my dad would be discussing where they could get a shotgun on Christmas and my sister would scold them because G is very handsome and seems very nice. I'd be sitting in silence aside from several heavy sighs.
G would also be incredibly baffled by motorized vehicles, so my sister's boyfriend would show him his motorcycles. My brother would offer to take G to his car shop in the following few days. My dad would offer to take him on a drive in his '87 Vette.
When they got back, my sister would ask him if he wants a drink and he'd be too afraid of getting carried away so he would decline. He'd have impeccable manners and my family would laugh and urge him to tone down the formalities. They'd also laugh at the fact that he calls me "my dear" and "my sweet." Eventually he would loosen up and start making jokes. My dad would start teasing him and he'd throw it right back at my dad. Somehow my love of books would come up and my family would start teasing me and G would tease right along with them but eventually say something really cute to me.
When it comes time for gifts, my family would probably get us couple-y gifts and they'd think it adorable that G managed to get me the exact book I wanted. I'd get him a barrel of apples and nobody would understand why that's so funny. G wouldn't have been sure what to get for my family, so the gifts I gave them would have both of our names on them.
At the end of the night, G would be sleeping in a different guest bedroom than me and wondering what kind of impression he made on my family. They'd all tell me that he seems a little weird but also a little perfect for me.
Levi from Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl
(even though this book is more NA than YA)
Levi would walk through the door ready to give out handshakes, side hugs, and large grins. My family would be very enthusiastic and welcome him right on in. Levi would tell my dad what a good girl he's got here and my dad would tell him he's damn right but I'm kinda a spitfire so be careful.
Levi would be very interested in getting to know my family, so he would definitely ask my sister questions about her job (I don't think anyone in my family is 100% sure what she actually does) and she'd show him pictures of how cool her work place is (they have an arcade and a ball pit, among other things) and he'd express extreme jealousy. He'd probably be really interested in the bowling league her and her boyfriend are in as well.
I feel like he'd definitely want to take a dip in my sister's hot tub, so my sister's boyfriend would probably let him borrow swim trunks and then go into the hot tub with him. In the house, my oldest brother and my dad would be discussing where they could get a shotgun on Christmas and my sister would scold them because Levi is very handsome and seems very nice. I'd be sitting in silence aside from several heavy sighs.
When it comes time for presents, Levi probably bought my family little gifts that are somehow all really personal. He'd buy me a couple books and he'd comment that they sounded like something we'd both like so I can read them out loud to him some time.
At the end of the night, Levi would volunteer to sleep on the couch, but he'd be texting me until the moment he falls asleep.

Jace from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series
Unfortunately, I don't feel as if this homecoming would be as pleasant as the others. Jace would probably walk into the house confident that one look would charm the pants off of all of them, but my family is not so easily wooed. He wouldn't say much when we walk in, but he'd be all smirk. My oldest brother would immediately detect how smug he is. He'd shake hands with my family, but even that would be cocky somehow.
My sister would ask him if he wanted a drink and I think he'd just ask for water because he hates being in unfamiliar places and not completely aware. My dad used to be a boxer and in the Navy, so I'm sure he'd be really interested in that, but he'd talk about his fighting prowess, which would annoy my dad because he hates when people brag. And then somehow my 25-year-old brother's athleticism would come up, and then they'd probably go play some sort of sport in the yard. While they're outside my oldest brother and my dad would be discussing where they could get a shotgun on Christmas and my sister would scold them because Jace is very handsome. I'd have to explain that they just need to get to know him a little bit. He has a lot of defense mechanisms.
When it comes to presents, Jace would probably have some really unique, cool gifts for them all and that would warm them up to him a little bit. And when the night is over, he'd probably be on a cot on the floor, but he wouldn't be able to sleep, so he'd probably slip into the guest bedroom for a little while to talk.
There are some scenarios I imagine if I took certain YA guys home for Christmas.
Which YA guys (or girls) would you want to bring home for the holidays?

Sunday Post #24
- Well, I moved back to school and started my junior year of college, which is just so weird to think about. I'm not sure what to think of my classes so far, but I do have a YA fiction writing class I'm excited for! And I actually have friends in that class, which is the best part of all.
- I've talked about it on twitter a bit and I mentioned it in a post, but I'll say it again--I'm wiped. I've been at school a week, and it's been busier than my entire summer. But it's good to be back and to have a life outside my couch again.
- On Friday night, a few friends and I had a sleepover in which we built a fort at 3 a.m. and all slept on my floor. It was a lot of fun, but it's been hard for me to find alone time.

Ten Books I'd Buy Right This Second If Someone Handed Me A Fully Loaded Gift Card
LOL you know if I had a fully loaded gift card I would not be stopping at ten books. I would buy out the ENTIRE STORE. But I guess, for the sake of lists, I will limit myself to only ten.
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - Everybody talks about how amazing this series is! And, let's be honest, in reality I'd buy the entire trilogy, but I only said the first one so I could have ore books on my list :)
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - I'd buy this partly because everyone raves about it, but also partly because it is such a BEAUTIFUL BOOK with its gorgeous cover and sprayed edges. I need it on my shelf.
The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh - I'd get this one for pretty much the same reasons I've listed above--it's so pretty and everyone seems to love it and also it just sounds so interesting.
The Selection by Kiera Cass - I've wanted to read this novel since it was first announced! I've always been so intrigued by the premise, and I've heard that, although not written the best, these books are like crack.
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - The only Matson book I haven't read yet!!!!! I need this in my possession ASAP.
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - I actually read an ARC of Cinder wayyyy back in the day, and I really enjoyed it. I've been dying to re-read it and continue this series for years!
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff - Yes, yes. I know. I am the only person on the face of the earth who has not read this book yet, but ONE DAY I WILL.
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows - This book is supposed to be a ton of fun, and I've never read anything like this, so I'm dying to get my hands on this one.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - With the release of Lady Midnight, I've been wanting to re-read this series SO BADLY but, oh, wait, I can't because the ONLY BOOK IN THE SERIES I DON'T OWN IS THE FIRST ONE. And I want it in the original hardcover, which is surprisingly difficult to find for cheap.
And I Darken by Kiersten White - Wow, so if you haven't heard I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH HOLY CRAP. It's one of my favorite books I've read this year and I need it to be on my shelf.

I've gotta say--I made this list and I am surprised by the lack of contemporary books on it, seeing as that's the only thing I've wanted to read recently. Hmmm.
Tell me which books you'd buy if you had unlimited funds!!
